Dario Argento's Dracula {2012}
« on: March 29, 2013, 09:31:16 AM »
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1852770/

Director: Dario Argento

Plot

A young librarian, Jonathan Harker, is welcomed at Castle Dracula by the Count and a young woman named Tania, who seems intent on seducing Harker. The Count prevents Tania from biting the young man, but Dracula attacks Harker himself, leaving him weak. Harker attempts to escape the castle, but is killed by a wolf. Harker's wife, Mina, arrives in the village and stays at the home of her friend, Lucy Kisslinger. Worried about her husband, she visits the castle, and falls under the spell of the Count. It transpires that Dracula has engineered their meeting, because Mina is the reincarnation of his long-lost love, Dolinger. Lucy also becomes undead before the mysterious happenings in the village attract the attention of vampire expert Van Helsing, who prepares for final combat with his deadliest foe.

This wasn't horrible but........it was not good. Now that being said. CGI to the left of me CGI to the right. A giant preying  mantis..Fuck. :straight: When the FX was there it was good, some bloody nice scenes. CGI train...yep. CGI smoke, you bet ya. *sighs*  :cantlook: Some scenes looked cartoonish. Backround scenes looked computerized. Watch this film to get a wtf feeling. 4/10

This looks fucking terrible. It's embarrassing that Dario Argento is reduced to making rubbish like this. He's going the same way as John Carpenter. :cantlook:

I'm thinking this thread should go in Foreign Films, as the movie is an Italian/French/Spanish production. Although, it's an English language speaking film (not dubbed). So? ???

It was English speaking. You can move it if you'd like. I don't know where is was filmed...do we have a category for CGI countries?  :cantlook:

It's definitely an Italian/French/Spanish production but it's also definitely a non-dubbed English speaking film... I think I'll just leave the thread where it is for now.

Directed by
Dario Argento

Writing credits
(in alphabetical order)
Dario Argento        screenplay
Enrique Cerezo        screenplay
Stefano Piani        screenplay
Bram Stoker        book

Ok, he directed this but come on...some of these other people had to have some influence ...this was lazy...maybe hes just tired of making films?

Maybe he was director in name only?

This is one of the worst films I've seen in a long time, and this is coming from an Argento fan. Still, on the plus side, it was better than Giallo!  :D

Really?!  :o

It's easily Argento's worst film (IMO)... I mean, it suffered from so much production interference and problems... even the man himself has gone on record to say it was a disaster. Adrien Brody also tried (unsuccessfully) to stop his likeness being used on any of the DVD packaging and posters and pretty much disowned the film.

Wow! I didn't know any of this. I didn't mind it at all. I still say this is his worst film.

I'm sorry to say that his latest films are pretty much  crap.  I get the feeling he's not as enthusiastic as he used to be......perhaps  he  should just retire and fade into film history before they call him a hack

It's pretty close for me. The Card Player is another one that would be in contention too.

Speaking as a huge Argento fan, I watched it knowing it was going to be awful... I just wanted to see for myself. If nothing else, you may exhibit bemusement and amusement at the poor script, acting, and CGI - particularly the praying mantis.

Damn Splat, you must be a masochist to want to watch it more than once.  :grinwink:

Plus, for the record, I leave soccer for those overpaid pansies.  ;)
