Stephen King, one of the greatest names in horror. Many adaptations of his work.
I only list my favourites but please list yours. And I'm only listing horror not stuff like Shawshank Redemption.
Carrie (1976)
This was the first adaptation and is a classic.
The Shining (1980)
The greatest horror film ever but you have to see the 2 hour cut aka International/European version.
Christine (1983)
Directed by John Carpenter, awesome film.
Children of the Corn (1984)
This spawned so many sequels but the first is the best.
Pet Sematary (1989)
Kind of zombies but not really. But Zelda is scarier than the zombies.
Misery (1990)
They'll never be able to do a worthy remake of this because Kathy Bates owned the role.
The Lawnmower Man (1992)
This is loosely based on the novel but the virtual reality scenes are crazy.
Sleepwalkers (1992)
Second best werecat movie next to Cat People.
The Night Flier (1997)
Now -that- is a vampire.
The Mist (2007)
Love the creatures in this and that ending holy shit.
And TV adaptations:
It (1990)
The remake is alright but Tim Curry is the definitive Pennywise for me.
The Tommyknockers (1993)
They are supposedly remaking this, but I doubt it will be as good as this version.
The Stand (1994)
This is an epic mini-series. The first part is the best.
The Langoliers (1995)
People always criticise the cgi for the langoliers but how can you make something like that look realistic. The dated cgi adds to it somehow. But the best part of this movie is Craig Toomey and the weird atmosphere.

Just finished
Thinner
(1996) for the first time...that I recall anyway. Dug it, Tom Holland was the filmmaker.
Dug all the early stuff along as the TV stuff. Haven't watched the TV stuff in yonks.
Shame they babied down the new It, especially the second half...what a waste of talent! Aspects were ok but all up forgetable.
Believe The Stand is being redown...or has...think I saw a FBer state total disappointment...I'm rambling...

The best tv stuff was from the early 90s. Massive fan of It, Tommyknockers, The Stand and The Langoliers. I saw them all when I was a kid.
Salem's Lot was kind of meh to me. Cool looking vampire, but it was boring.
