The Thing
« on: February 01, 2020, 04:05:25 AM »
So The Thing currently consists of three movies, with a fourth maybe on the way.  All adaptations of Who Goes There? by Joseph Campbell.

The Thing From Another World (1951)

I need to see this again, but it's a classic.

The Thing (1982)

Everybody loves this one.  Masterpiece.

The Thing (2011)

I actually like this, but it's a shame they decided to go with cgi over practical effects.

Untitled Thing remake (????)

I believe the new film is being penned after the 82's book companion. Which was only unearthed last year or 2018 from what I saw.

If I'm correct.

The very original film is beyond boring in my opinion. And aged horridly. Muuuch better horror films from that era to watch instead.

Be good if it is based upon the book thus make it a true sequel

As for the 1982 being boring  :cantlook:

The 1951 John Carpenter is a big fan of, which is why he did the remake.  I'm glad it exists.  Even if the creature is more like Frankenstein's monster.  The setting is cool for a 50s scifi movie.

I like 50s horror anyway, even if most of the time it's just people talking in that stiff way they used to talk in the 50s.

I re-watched the 1982 the other night.  Such a boss movie.  I like the prequel too but they really messed up with the gore/practical effects.
