Night of the Living Dead {1968}
« on: June 05, 2013, 10:37:54 PM »
Night of the Living Dead

George A. Romero

Barbra and her brother Johnny travel by car from Pittsburgh to the countryside to visit the gravestone of their father in the cemetery. Out of the blue, they are attacked by a strange man and Johnny is murdered. Barbra runs and releases the brake of Johnny's car since the keys are in his pocket, ............FUCK IT!

This is the greatest film to ever enter my mind.. I saw this when I was 10 years old. My first horror movie. It frightened me. I thought this could happen. It was happening. George Romero  is my favorite director. This film with always be my first horror love. <3

A zombie classic, and Romero's best zombie film by some margin, in my opinion; although I do ever-so-slightly rank Martin as his best work.

I have a dvd of the 1968 film with it being shown in black and white and also in color. I prefer it in black & white though.

To be honest I think the 1990 remake of it by Tom Savini is a much better film with good zombie effects and gore and better acting with the likes of Tony Todd.

: )

Gave this a re-watch tonight and even though this is the least gory I would have to say this is the one that grabs me the most. Just everything in this looks great along with the situation. Ending wise this is the most terror invoking as well...for me anyway.

Again...this thread is beautiful, a truly worthy one for the Godfather of the Modern Zombie Film.

I did re~watch after I mentioned it I my last reply here. What can I say, it will never age. So many great ideas plus everything looks so spot on. Black and White is perfect for this and probably never re~watch the colo...u...red version again. A nightmaric vision of the world gone to shit.

I purchased the 40th Anniversary Edition of this simply because of the awesomeness that radiates off this film and I wanted a quality edition. I need to buy a new tee though as the XL is WAYYYY too big on me now that I am a skinny cunt  8)

I re-watched it yesterday.  For 1968, this film is very gory.

My favourite scene is when the little girl becomes a ghoul (they are called ghouls in the film, not zombies).  That must have been pretty shocking when it came out.
