Any fans of the show on here besides me? I thought a discussion thread was in order for such an awesome show. Who's your favorite character? Favorite Season? Episode?
Besides the two main characters, I've always loved the Cigarette Smoking Man. One of the shadiest, most secretive, and toughest to get rid of villains ever. And I have to say my favorite episode would be the Season 1 episode "Ice". It carries a huge influence from one of the best horror films ever, John Carpenter's The Thing, and it was quite atmospheric with a very isolated feeling.
Overall I say the first 3 seasons are the best. They can't be beat. But the series stays great all the way up to season 6, until it just skids all over the place with season 7, and then slams into a wall and burns for all of season 8 and 9.

The episode that freaked me out the most was Humbug, where Mulder and Scully investigate a sideshow due to killings at a small town. Turns out the above little guy is trying to escape his boring assed brother and move in with a new one, literally! When I originally watched the series back in the early 90s it was on my foster dad's TV in the garage…I used to check under the care 'just to make sure' and thus freak myself out even more
The anti-climax…

Hell yes, to Humbug, The Host, and Home. All of those episodes are some of the finest examples of the show's ability to convey horror and mystery.
I really wish they had a clear plan for the myth arc episodes. I loved them all the way up until the Syndicate bit the bullet. Then it just became very very clear they had no real idea where they were going with it all.

A huge part of the 90s for me and sad it ended up the way it did.

Very interesting the final episode.
I think it was pretty well made, and was by far the best episode of the last two seasons (not saying much). For one, it actually felt like an X-Files episode with all the major players involved and Mulder and Scully at the forefront of the plot. Pretty much feels like the only episode where they tried to address the issues they had left wide open and without any resolution regarding the main myth arc. However it still left a gigantic cliffhanger by the end of the episode and even kind of started a whole new set of unanswered questions, so it's a pain in the ass that it never got any sort of concrete conclusion. It felt more like a simple season finale rather than a series finale. I won't be satisfied until we get a movie that deals with the alien invasion/colonization. Even though the projected date of December 2012 has already passed.

Season 2 Episode 1
Little Green Men
. Not the greatest episode but still good and worthy of the start of the new season and where they were going with the storyline.
