The Burning (1981)
« on: March 01, 2013, 07:03:16 PM »

Quote
A former summer camp caretaker, horribly burned from a prank gone wrong, lurks around an upstate New York summer camp bent on killing the teenagers responsible for his disfigurement.

I enjoyed this so much I made Cropsy Gnome...a horribly disfigured one at that. I like the whole feel of this movie and the kills are done well. Actually felt for our disfigured burns victim and to a point understood why he was doing what he was doing. Think most of you have seen this but if you haven't go grab it!

I liked The Burning alot but to me Madman that came out that same year and is basicly the same plot was better to me that is.

But to get back to The Burning...yes, I do like it and even though the acting and characters are cheesy it's very fun to watch. It has future stars George Alexander(from tv's Seinfeld) and ......damn, I can't think of her name but she was lead actress in Raising Arizona.

The Burning is probably my fave slasher of all time, it's hard to pick one but whenever i'm in the mood for a slasher i always lean towards that one.

What's your thoughts on the remake of Maniac? Not sure if it's out yet but i can't see it being as gritty as the original.

My thoughts on the remake of MANIAC...actually think it shows a lot of promise. Going into it and view it on it's own merits to be honest.

this movie goes down as a classic in my book, great atmosphere, great characters, good deaths

Pretty overrated in my opinion. Only worth the raft scene, kills, atmosphere, the acting isn't horrible, and I guess I liked a few characters and the killer. Not that great but worth a watch.
