Brief review - no spoilers:

Not sure if I like this or not.  Some things were like "ok.. what?".  Good performance by the main actor and Robert De Niro.  I don't think it's as good as King of Comedy or Taxi Driver, as it seems to be mainly inspired by those films.  The main problem to me is, you aren't sure what is real and what is in his head.  Also some subplots which I don't know were needed.  But I won't spoil I will be curious to hear what you think.

I loved it.  As a major fan of the character and an avid comic reader I must say I felt it done the Joker justice finally. The fact that its open ended makes me happier it's a little nod to the Killing Joke.  Loved the little homages to some comic panels.  The color that they used the little camera tricks were great

It's an experience for sure.  Cant wait to hear others reactions
I also wanted to add.  A lot of the reviews that are negative that are coming out are missing the point of what this is about.  If you are familiar with the character and read the comics you'll get and understand perfectly. Plus it's a really mature and dark approach to comic movie, this isnt some family friendly marvel stuff this is made for adults.  Hope everyone here that sees it will enjoy it.

I'm STILL trying to find the words for this masterpiece. My top film of the year. I don't care if VanBebber comes out with a Deadbeat 2...this is it for me.  But in the mean time, my favorite mini reviewer on Bloody~ Disgusting..

This movie is as grimy and nihilistic as cinema gets. A smorgasbord of darkness and nightmare fuel, that in no way makes you sympathize with the titular character.

Arthur Fleck is a pathetic individual, but one who's been failed by all those around him; some obvious and some not so obvious, and my prediction of this movie being a study of how support systems put in place by our governments fail the vulnerable is spot on. There's a few meaty themes going on, mainly mental illness but I can't talk about the others due to spoilers. Needless to say, this definitely isn't your standard comic book movie fare and it's astonishing that Warner Bros had the balls to go through with what they did with this film.

Everything said about Joaquin Phoenix is accurate. His portrayal of Fleck is so powerful yet miserable, he electrifies in every scene he's in, and that's pretty much the entire movie. The supporting cast is there but this is Phoenix's move through and through.

The cinematography is gorgeous yet dirty, the score is ominous and haunting and the sudden and unexpected bursts of violence shock. There is imagery and scenes in Joker that sends chills down the spine.

Wearing it's Taxi Driver influence on its sleeve, Joker is frightening, daring and utterly fantastic.

4.5/5

I don't consider this a 'DC' film at all. In fact I saw two mentions of it. 'Based on characters from DC comics' and the DC logo among other logos at the very end.

Tim Ritter {Truth or Dare?: A Critical Madness, Killing Spree etc etc} posted this...

"Wow! Cinematic Masterpiece of acting, directing, story, set design. Incredible. Do Not Miss it! Probably the best movie of the year."

I'm pretty sure Jim hates pretty much everyone.  But oh well I enjoyed Joker and Hated could care less for everything else Todd Phillips directs.  If you never seen Hated watch it.  GG Allin was a madman but also a genius we will never understand.
