This needed more odd surrealness to it for me. Though it's not terrible or whatever but it is very play by the numbers.

Haven't seen the original for so long, think I may have read the novel too if my memory serves me right.

Makes me sad to see this being remade.  I dont understand why there have to remake everything, the younger generations need to just suck it up and watch the original and enjoy it for what it is.  Most the time they complain about the effects.  Well kids cgi is ugly as fuck to me and makes movies unwatchable for me.  But this is making me dig out my copy and watch the masterpiece
