In the back-woods of America live a very special kind of people. Friendly, decent, hard-working dirt farmers. When they accidentally drink a barrel of nuclear waste they turn into tobacco chewing, flesh eating, cannibal kinfolk from hell. Meanwhile, seven sophisticated city slickers on vacation get lost in the woods and encounter a nightmare world of these illiterate, and extremely insensitive, undead. While the tourists hikers use all their wits and courage to stay alive, more and more "down-home" types imbibe the nasty brew until Redneck Zombies are everywhere. What started as a scenic nature-hike turns into a bloodbath of dismemberment and cannibalism.
Pericles Lewnes is to blame for Redneck Zombies! Not surprised Troma released it as it has a few trademarks of their kinda films. Some retarded humour, acting and whatnot. In stating that though didn't feel this film was a total loss either. As the trailer states the last 30 minutes or so gets quite gory. Enough to make sitting through some of the Troma~isms worthwhile. Nice, low budget gore done quite well. Zombies look good too in that they aren't just slash a little black and what make-up on em and set them loose.
Is it really worth checking out?
Maybe if you are in the mood for nothing serious and some well done gore...and prepared to sit through some stupid shit and a sometimes annoying soundtrack!
Actually, there were aspects of Redneck Zombies I really dug. Just a shame about 'zany' bits.

Forgot I had already watched this until the time when they are tripping out and the filmmaker uses those lenses to create the tripping effect. Again...nice gore and the last 20-30 minutes.
