Born for Hell A.K.A. Naked Massacre (1976)
« on: June 25, 2015, 10:39:13 AM »

'Born for Hell' a.k.a. 'Naked Massacre' (1976) is a Canadian / French/ West German/ Italian production. The film is co-written and directed by Denis Héroux and is inspired by the infamous American mass murderer Richard Speck who on July 14th 1966 systematically tortured, raped, and murdered eight student nurses from South Chicago Community Hospital. The setting here is Belfast, Northern Ireland where Vietnam War veteran Kane Adamson (Mathieu Carrière) arrives. Wanting to go to the U.S. but without money, he begs for food at a boarding house for student nurses. When one of the girls takes pity on him he's reminded of his wife back home and has a psychotic break returning that night with a switchblade and holds all eight nurses hostage in an upstairs bedroom taking one or two downstairs at a time to humiliate, rape and murder them.

This isn’t perfect but it’s a very good rare little gem well worth uncovering. If you like sleazy and scuzzy rape and revenge films like the original ‘The Last House on the Left’, ‘The Night Train Murders’, ‘The House on the Edge of the Park’ etc. then you’re going to like this for the same reasons. Mathieu Carrière is terrifyingly convincing as the woman hating personification of pure evil and the graphic sequences depicting the humiliating degradation and murders of the nurses are stomach-churning stuff. The inspiration of the Richard Speck murders committed here by a Vietnam War veteran set against the backdrop of the paranoia ridden bombed out warzone of 70’s Belfast, Northern Ireland makes for an interesting juxtaposition. Nasty and riveting stuff.

I haven't seen it yet. There's two different versions and I think what I've embedded is the uncut one. I've just got a rip under the 'Born for Hell' title, which I think is uncut.

EDIT: I think maybe under the 'Naked Massacre' title it's the cut version.
