HIGH TENSION

Marie and Alexia are classmates and best friends. Hoping to prepare for their college exams in peace and quiet, they decide to spend a weekend in the country at Alexia's parents' secluded farmhouse. This film fucking CRUSHED from start to finish. Every single minute was intense and I just couldn't get enough of it.

Fuck.

Pissed that I just now decided to check it out.

If you haven't seen it, go fucking watch it.

Will go down as one of my all time favorites for sure.

To be honest, it kind of didnt make sense just because of one of the opening scenes but I just accepted it because I was all like wait whaaaaaat!?

It definitely surprised me and the fact that she was crazy made her cuter. So yeah, I dont know. I LOVED this.

I too love this great gory film. I liked the characters, setting, plot, kills, ending......

At 1st I didn't understand the ending or about the killer but I got it on my 2nd viewing.

Best french horror film imho and one of the best horror films in the past 15 years.

How do you explain the killer sitting in his tuck with a severed head, getting head, while Marie and Alexa are driving though? There are snippets like that, at bug me. If there is an explanation I would love to read it

Plot holes aside, and let's be honest, what horror flick doesn't have some plot holes, this film isn't about the story. This was one of the first true extreme modern horror films to meet a wide audience in the U.S. where I am. I know a lot of people who got into underground and extreme horror in a large part due to Alexander Aja and High Tension.

I am also in the camp of people who enjoy the look and gore of this movie but feel that the ending ruined the rest of the movie. I rewatched it during my annual 30 films of Halloween film fest (the one I do alone like a fucking loser lol) last year and reacted the exact same way the second time around.

ATTENTION SPOILERS:

I think that scene happened when Marie was daydreaming or napping in the car and in her subconscious mind she was dreaming of that blowjob decap scene cause if you look at the head it looked like her friends face so to speak.

There's actually a company called Accent that released this on bluray.

One of my favourite horror/slashers from France.

I don't mind the twist because if you think that's silly, and you like Freddy and Jason, well what is sillier..

How many times have you seen a girl be the hero and defeat the villain in a horror film?  It has been done to death lol.  This kind of subverts that formula.  I got it straight away but people still don't get it.
