Amityville Horror franchise
« on: April 12, 2014, 01:20:46 PM »
The only Amityville Horror film that I really liked was the original 1979 film. Part 2 was okay but the rest sucked imho

So here's the film trailers from all the films:

Amityville Horror 1979:

Amityville 2: the Possession:

Amityville 3 in 3D:

Amityville 4: Evil Escapes

Amityville 5: Curse

Amityville 6: It's about Time

Amityville 7: Generation

Amityville 8: Dollhouse

The Amityville Horror: remake

I find the franchise t be largely overrated. Not a fan any of the films really.

I think this franchise is a lot of fun.  The best are the first two.  They made many films with the 'Amityville' title that are otherwise unrelated.

All of these have some weird/crazy in them which makes them worth watching.

Ones I've seen:

The Amityville Horror (1979)

This is a classic of the haunted house genre.

Amityville II:  The Possession (1982)

Best in the series IMO.  This is a prequel.  There is also brother/sister incest.

Amityville 3-D (1983)

Haven't seen this.  Only movie in 3D.

Amityville IV:  The Evil Escapes (1989)

This is when they go out of the house, and it's about haunted items from the house instead.  This time it's a haunted lamp.  I remember this being bad but funny.

The Amityville Curse (1990)

Don't think I've seen this one.

Amityville:  It's About Time (1992)

About a haunted clock.  Don't remember too much about this one, but I remember liking it.

Amityville:  A New Generation (1993)

Haunted mirror.

Amityville Dollhouse (1996)

Probably my second favourite.  Continues the incest theme with stepmother/stepson incest and some cool looking demons.

The Amityville Horror (2005)

I've only seen this once, when it came out.  Need to rewatch.

Amityville:  The Awakening (2017)

This had a lot of promise but seemed a bit meh to me.  It isn't that bad though.

I only enjoy the first two.  The Second one is my favorite so dark and twisted.  Just knew right away something was off between the siblings and well yep haha. The rest are like you said Count worth watching.  The remake isnt bad, havent seen it in years. But I might have to rewatch the first two again.

Yeah the weird thing is the sister gets into it but then the brother rejects her because he is turning into a demon.  He even steals her panties.

When the Mother is asking her what she did with her brother and the disgust in her eyes, ah such a powerful moment. Those scenes with the siblings was so unnerving made me squirm.

I need to rewatch that now.  Amityville II:  The Possession.  So underrated.

Agreed.  Such an underrated Horror movie that just crawls under and the skin.  The family feels real and the father is such a piece of shit.  Going to watch this one tonight after work.  Nothing like dinner and movie featuring some good old fashioned incest.

Watched most of these in the day. Plus, when I was a kid pretty much read all the novels based around Amityville.
