Hairspray (1988)

Quote
A 'pleasantly plump' teenager teaches 1962 Baltimore a thing or two about integration after landing a spot on a local TV dance show.

Trailer:

A movie about self-acceptance, love, integration, and oh yeah hairspray lots and lots of hairspray. Here was see the usual cast of misfits but with the addition of some bigger names like, Ruth Brown (<3), Jerry Stiller, Debbie Harry, Sonny Bono, and though not a big name at the time Ricki Lake. This was one of his most accessible films so much so it was adapted into a musical for the stage then that was turned into a movie.
Probably typed with a cat trying to steal my computer.
