Title: Halloween {2018}

Laurie Strode comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1502407/ (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1502407/)

Director: David Gordon Green

Writing Credits
John Carpenter   ...   (characters)
David Gordon Green   ...   (screenplay)
Debra Hill   ...   (characters)
Danny McBride   ...   (screenplay)

FrighT MasteR over at UHM got some information on the story line. A few spoilers so proceed at your own risk. Info below.

There are a lot of stalking scenes, and you can't tell the difference between JJC and Nick Castle. He also said that the first time Laurie meets Michael - it was probably Nick and that it's very different than how they meet in H20. He said he was very in line with H1 Michael, but definitely more brutal in a sense. He also confirmed that they are not siblings in this film, and the entire film takes place in 2018.

He spoke of a really cool sequence: Imagine that upon Michaelís return to Haddonfield on Halloween night, he goes door to door and murders random people in their homes. Now imagine that this is done in a single shot lasting minutes. He also said the acting was good all around, really loved two teenage characters. Laurie's relationship with Karen and Allyson is really important in the film.

Adding... sometimes it felt like a horror drama, but that only added to the dread and impending doom in the film. Confirmed Laurie is the lead, but there are a lot of characters in the film - and they all get their fair share of screen time. Act 1 features Michael unmasked for the most part, however, you never see his face. Explained how he got his mask (SPOILERS) - two people who run a crime podcast ended up getting the mask from an evidence locker, and Dr. Sartain brings them in to see how he reacts. I will not go any further than that.

He also said that the film was very dark but the Halloween atmosphere wasn't as in your face as H4-H6, but definitely there. Quite a few kills that happen off screen - out of frame, but also some very graphic murders - some that happen in succession in the same scene. Tons of easter eggs - Speed Kills sign by the school, kids wearing Halloween Shamrock masks from Halloween III. He also said it's the best Halloween sequel (he loves the original and liked H20).

On the topic of Dr. Loomis: It looms heavier than H20, but not hugely. Iíd say this movie is more about Laurie as a character than even the original film was, and that leaves less room for the people connected to Michael.

The film wasn't said to be a "remake" nor a "reboot", but a "recalibration" of the character Michael Myers. However, after David Gordon Green and Danny McBride took over the project, these two stated that it would be none of the aforementioned and that the film was going to be a continuation of the original Halloween's sequel.

John Carpenter claims this will be the last Halloween film.

After sleeping on it. I fucking loved it.

A little score heavy at times but so damn good.

One scene almost took me out of it and could of ruined the flick if they pushed it further. BUT, it didnít happen. And in the end, they were able to pull off the proper atmosphere that is halloween with slight modifications for the modern audience. I still enjoy '78 much more, and thats probably an obvious statement for most of us, but this is one of the good ones. Ill most likely end up seeing it again before it leaves the theater. So there you go. Go see Halloween.

Absolutely a brilliant film! Michael was brutal as fuckkk! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!  :red_heart:

Four things made this  movie for me. Michael, the music score and the cinematography. And the KILLS! Off screen slaughter was just as wonderful as on. You saw his aftermath and it was beautiful! Only one part got me saying, oh fuck no! Lets not do this...and they stopped. Thank fuck. Didn't like it at all but it quickly redeemed themselves. Whew!

Yes, this is Halloween 78 for the 2000's! Lucky us.

1978 Halloween owns my heart, always.   :black_heart:

Halloween, 2018. 8/10

Halloween, 1978. 10/10

Again, pretty sure I know what your referring to lol and I'm sooo glad they didn't go with it!!

Michael seemed proper brutal and gore wasn't half bad either. A couple of homages to the original which I really liked :)

Worth waiting for and I'm hoping their gonna do a special blu Ray edition packed with features!!

So this came out today here and I checked it out this arv. I've kept off forums to avoid spoilers.

I was expecting to like it but I was totally blown away. I love all the little nods to the original. I love how Laurie has been traumatized. Jamie Lee is phenomenal in this. John Carpenter's score is absolutely fucking beautiful as well. God it elevates the film to a whole new level. I love Bill Patton too. So, yeah.

It's my second favourite in the franchise.

Halloween 2 (1981)
Halloween 2 (2018.)
Halloween (1978.)
Halloween 4: Return of Michael Myers (1988.)
Halloween 6: Curse of Micheal Myers (1995)
Halloween (2007)
Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989)
Halloween: H20 Twenty Years Later (1998.)
Halloween Resurrection (2002)
Every other movie ever
Halloween 2 (2009)

I left out Halloween 3: Season of the Witch due to it not being the Myers story. Were I to include that it would be second or third on the list.

I thought this movie was pretty damn awesome...was overall very happy with how it played out....cannot agree more about how brutal Michael was....My only negative take was there needed to include a true Sex followed Immediately (or during) death scene like so many horror movies of the 70's/80's.

8/10

More then a fitting sequel to the original!

Got goosebumps watching the opening credits then we get into the movie...

Loved all the pointers to the original along with II and her even III with the Trick Or Treaters and their masks etc.

Nice kills to boot...loved the head stomp!

Don't get the little bits of hate I have seen for this...guess cannot make everyone happy.

With Resurrection, the only bad I hear about it is a silly scene where a rapper beats up Michael Myers.  Honestly, I found that kind of funny.  If that's the worst thing about it, because the rest of the film isn't that bad.

I re-watched Halloween '07 the other night, and I liked it but they didn't give enough backstory.  All it showed was abusive stepfather and bullying that made him evil.  They could've gone more in-depth than that.

I did notice that this Myers is more anti-hero than pure evil, he doesn't kill indiscriminately, all the people he kills probably deserve it because they're douchebags lol.

Zombie's vision is pretty good though, he chose some good actors in it as well.

Not a fan of Zombies Halloween flicks. His directing style can be really annoying to me.

House and Rejects are his best. 31 was decent. Hoping 3 From Hell is good.. but everything else hes directed is kind of hard to deal with. Just annoys me.

Like Lords of Salem was actually so good until about the last 30 min where he went full Zombie directing mode and fucked it all up. Infuriating.

I like House of 1000 Corpses but Devil's Rejects I couldn't get into.  House is pretty damn underrated if you ask me.  Everybody goes on about Devil's Rejects saying it's his best movie, don't quite get it.

I'll check out the rest of Zombie's films soon.  Was not a fan before but I honestly think Halloween 2 is underrated.  Both of his Halloween films are pretty good, much better than The Devil's Rejects (IMO).
