Videodrome is a 1983 Canadian science fiction body horror film written and directed by David Cronenberg, starring James Woods, Sonja Smits, and singer Deborah Harry. Set in Toronto during the early 1980s, it follows the CEO of a small cable station who stumbles upon a broadcast signal featuring extreme violence and torture. The layers of deception and mind-control conspiracy unfold as he uncovers the signal's source and loses touch with reality in a series of increasingly bizarre and violently organic hallucinations.

My favourite Cronenberg film, and one of my all time favourite films. If you haven't checked this one out yet, then what the fuck are you waiting for??!

Amazing film, and seemingly timeless.

I love how it's social media commentary is more fitting for todays society than ever before (and will only continue to become closer and closer) It's as if ol' Cronenberg saw the future. I really need to pick up the Blu.

I loved this movie.  It was extremely uncomfortable and very intelligent.

I'll probably never watch it again, just to preserve that wonderful feeling from my first time.  That was something special.

I can agree with you on that Ox!

This is a film I can watch over and over again.  Man, I wish Cronenberg would pay a revist to "Body Horror" one of these days.  I mean, his thrillers are still top-notch!  But it would be nice to see another Cronenberg horror flick again!

Watched this for the first time about 6 months ago or so. Kept reading about it in books about horror movies I was reading for a research paper I was doing in one of my classes. I can't believe I waited so long to watch this film.

I watched this the first time too young so didn't appreciate it as preferred less cranial stimulation at the time...ie Zombie movies :D ...so because I keep seeing this copy at the markets maybe I will pick it up and revisit it.

You really should man. I wasn't a huge fan at first wither I got it young. But on the re-watch, once I was older and could better grasp it, I was blown away.

A favorite of mine, a fantastic movie that is even more relevant now than it was upon it's release.

Long live the new flesh! Cronenberg comes up with the best dialogue. I own every one of his films on either DVD or Blu Ray.

I love this movie! It's Cronenberg's masterpiece. The Criterion 2-disc DVD is by far my favorite Criterion release!

Videodrome has a lot of re-play value Which is something I really appreciate in a film. A very surreal experience for me was walking into the Festival Of Fear party at the Revival in Toronto. There is a lower level bar and all the screens were playing the uncut snuff segments from the film. This film will be in my Psyche probably until I die. And for good reason!

It's so hard to find any movies talking about transhumanism. Love the idea and the visuals. Cronenberg was really in his element here.

When I think of this one I would definitely agree with how "timeless" this is and I believe its relevance with live beyond the now but well into the future. Cronenberg is fucking masterful here. I don't think at the time a better actor could have played the lead Woods just seems so perfect for the role. I just enjoy how much this movie gets you thinking and makes you keep on thinking about the media and so much more...well for me any ways for days after the first time I seen any way in the late 80's.
