Title: Short Films From the UNDERGROUND.
Post by: splat on February 01, 2013, 04:11:45 AM

Short Films From the UNDERGROUND is a thread to showcase any short films that have grabbed you, be it they are fucked up and gory or they just touched you at a deeper level.

Along with sharing us your film that grabbed you maybe even share some tidbit on why you like it or whatever. Even movie poster art and stills etc. Whatever grabs you and you feel is worthy. Naturally you may just add the film and leave it at that...all cool.

FUCKING!!! nice little gore piece mate! I have to admit I wasn't share exactly what was going to happen until he made the first  cut up his forearm. What would have made this even better is if a explosive squirt of arterial blood hit him in the face when he made the cuts up his forearm . Never less brilliant....Thanks for sharing : )

Thought this was a nice little add. My only complaint was that they should have shown more of what was happening in the bathtub!

Aftermath (acto necrofilico) This a brilliantly done short from Nacho Cerda. Very well made and one of the movies that has influenced me into wanting to do my own short movies!

GENESIS A very beautiful and sad short film from Nacho Cerda. Most people I know seem to apreciate this a lot more over AFTERMATH. For me they are just two different viewpoints of the ending of a loved ones life. It goes deeper but this is not the time for that.

Doll Boy {2010}

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1791495/ (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1791495/)

Director: Billy 'Bloody Bill' Pon

Quote
DOLL BOY begins with a windowless panel van pulling up to a run down warehouse. A demented-looking clown (who really enjoys his work) opens the sliding door of the van to reveal eight people bound, gagged, and terrified. He takes them out of the van and throws them into the warehouse. Well if you thought the clown was scary and disturbing you should see what's waiting for them inside the warehouse!! As the people get used to the darkness and begin to help each other break loose from their shackles, they are attacked by the titular Doll Boy; a huge, hulking psycho wearing a very creepy mask that looks like a baby doll.

Heart of Karl {2008}

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1558956/ (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1558956/)

Director: Steven Kostanski

A normal guy named Max (Conor Sweeney) and his mentally challenged, telekinetic, monster-like brother Karl (Matthew Kennedy) live in a world conceived by night terrors.  Apparently Karl’s been very naughty in the use of his powers and Max can’t take it anymore.  He has Karl committed to some sort of bizarre institution, and keeps Karl’s heart (for safe keeping?).  Max has a change of heart and goes to the institution to return Karl’s ticker and bust him out of the dank hellhole.  Turns out that this “hellhole” literally fits  the description of the word and Karl must use his terrible power to get he and his brother out alive.

PIG/1334 (BD/DVD COMBO)

PIG (1998), a film depicting the relationship between a killer (Rozz Williams) and his victim (James Hollan), where all lines are crossed, blending fantasy and reality, in a transformation of the subconscious mind of a killer, graphically showing the manifestation of itself into abstract forms and material, all deriving from his suffering and desperation.

1334 (2011), a ghost story that reveals the haunting disturbances that began to plague the ones left behind following the completion of PIG and the death of R.W., where reality turns into darkness, with the effect upon no return.

PIG/1334 (directed by Nico B) are an exploration of the subconscious thru underground film making. PIG was the last project of Rozz Williams (who died 4.1.1998), formerly known from the rock group Christian Death among others. R.W. spoke of the film as a form of exorcism & transition of his personal demons. 1334 was inspired by true occurrences.

Hot Love {1985} By Director: Jörg Buttgereit

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0269338/ (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0269338/)

Quote
"Hot Love" is one of the pre-"Nekromantik" shorts that German auteur Jörg Buttgereit did on good ol' super-8 back in "the day". It's a pretty simple, yet highly off-beat little splatter/love story about a guy (Bernd Daktari Lorenz - from "Nekromantik") who meets a chick at a drunken party and they fall madly in love. Through a consciously corny montage of loving attachment and frolicking we see their relationship building into something serious - until, eventually, the dude comes across his woman in the arms of another man (played by the very Aryan looking Buttgereit) and blows his stack. He storms into the room they're about to start fucking in and gets his ass handed to him by his girl's strapping new lover and tossed out. The lovelorn stooge soon follows his ex-girlfriend out into the woods, knocks her out with a branch and rapes her unconscious form. Later on, he's found with his wrists cut and the chick is apparently knocked up... This leads to a pleasantly strange and violent conclusion that just SCREAMS Buttgereit.

Sophie (2007)

Sophie is an Austrian short film of only 20 minutes, that tells the story of a woman  that while walking through the forest trying to fix her divorce falls down a slope and gets caught in a bear trap without being able to get loose.

This terrible circumstance accompanied with hallucinations that torment her, force her to rethink her entire life in former partner and her mistakes in that relationship.

The realization in general is quite good as well as its interpretations. This is a good dramatic short film with a little splatter touch as it is clearly in the scene on foot.

there is a fairly comprehensive review of this movie at filmbizarro if anyone is interested.  Sophie (http://www.filmbizarro.com/view_review.php?review=sophie.php)

Check out Merry little Christmas from Spain (2010)
It's a short film commissioned by the Spanish Government about domestic abuse and was apparently banned for being too extreme. It's very well made and comes across like an unholy combination of Irreversible and an Aphex twin video.
Savage, harrowing and relentlessly brutal it should be checked out by any fan of extreme horror.

Bloody Christ on a bastarding barnacle. Just watched 'Merry Little Christmas' from the link provided and my stomach is in knots. It's remarkable that such a savage video is available on the tube and yet feature films are regularly censored. This grubby and spiteful little short had far more of an effect on me than, say, A Serbian Film or Human Centipede Part 2.

"Harrowing" is bloody well right Corpsy, that scene where the bastard slashes and repeatedly cracks and then rapes her unconcious body was one of the most alarming and arresting pieces of shock cinema I've ever had the displeasure to witness. Truly gutting and then some.

I can only imagine the reactions on the boards faces as whatever Spanish ministry responsible for contracting this director to show the plight of battered women watched it!!!

They prolly all shat their pants! Excellent photography and quite brilliant film makery but fuck me, that's some harsh shit!

There's public service annnouncements and then there's this!  :o

Fucking brutal.

Yep it is indeed a doozy. I was very lucky to catch this at a theater, during the Edinburgh Dead by Dawn Festival a couple of years back, and I gotta say, you could hear a fuckin pin drop afterward. People looked slightly dazed after seeing it,and it was a pretty tense experience. Great film though and as soon as I saw it was on youtube, I just had to share the love. 8)

Merry Little Christmas is brutal as all fuck and a perfect fit for a place called Extreme Horror Cinema! Everything is just done so well, from the visuals to the feel of what the two woman are going through to the way the nephew is with the whole situation. As soon as he states that it all has to stop I knew what was coming. Very power punch in the face! AWESOME!!!

I'm just very glad I was so lucky to catch it at a cinema, with the sound amplified, sitting in the dark with like minded fans. To see such an extreme film on the big screen is just a great experience, and don't wish to sound like I'm boasting saying this, but just wish to impress upon you the profound effect it had on me in such a setting. I mean you guys were pretty wowed seeing it on youtube,  but the effect upon the viewer is much more amplified from the big screen. Really glad it delivered for you all.

Heheh. He's a Paddy, a potato cake-chomper who is something of a living legend on the IMDb horror board. He once made a post all about how he inadvertantly came up with the title to Wezzo's Last House on the Left that still cracks me up to this day!!! He's the funniest Oirishman of oil toim so he is ta be sure bajasus.
Lol! Okay, we just have to know each other. :D

Heheh, I know you from IMDb, I rarely post there anymore but I was once one of the original movers and shakers - yer know - a bit like Jimmy Saville circa 1979.  The kids were going crazy about me so I had to retire my awesomeness cos the fanmail was becoming rather burdensome.

Anyway, we're all dead dead chuffed to have you here Corpsy and we appreciate you taking the time to stop frollicking in the dingly dells of Dublin for 1 bloody second to post with us proles but aren't you far too busy spouting off your rent-a-gob right wing vitriol on the IMDb politics board to bother with us peasants. Yer know I love you Corpsy but your political leanings are slightly to the right...

of Mussolini!  lol

Btw, I know you're wondering just who the hell I am but I don't give my name to the likes of you and also you smell and you're all, like, totally icky and yucky too! Suffice to say I'm a close mate of Shazza, she knows me by my alternate net handle Fulcento and I used to post on IMDb all the time.

And no - I'm not Wolfy before you even begin to think that!  :hahanot:

Yeah what was really awesome about it was that it was a total blind viewing. Nobody had heard of it or had a clue what was in store,  which made it all the more shocking. Just a really great experience, definitely.

You did. You were wrong but you certainly did and cheers for trying. Looks like I'm not the only one with a sharp memory. I'm gonna have to keep a close eye on you, you're like a loony, trapped in a spliff, shrouded in skunk smoke, wrapped in a mystery, cloaked in a delusion that you're left of anything! You'd be well shit at speedway cos I've never seen you turn left! God that was a crap joke, I'm throwing tomatoes at myself just for typing it.

Insane Horror Fan (2013) is a Friday the 13th tribute from the writer/director of Zombie Infection (2011), Alex Wesley. Obviously a fan of the slasher genre I won't go to into this as it will spoil the ending, which I thought was pretty cool…especially a certain bit! Not over the top gore but that's cool, especially as a first film!

After experiencing the German Uncut Special Edition version of Dard Divorce I decided to go experience the trailers and lo and behold there was a trailer for a film could Bagman. We has what we assume is a bum pushing a shopping court full of dead bodies, really nice looking gore. Then it appears that one of the people is alive so he gets his head chopped in half down the middle with a machete. Checking for a trailer these came up, which should be familiar to some here. I'm pondering if there is a full length version or the trailer is for both Part 1 and 2 together on the one disc and released in Germany

A Duane Graves & Justin Meeks Short

http://greeksfilms.com/films/headcheese/

Loosely based on a New Testament chapter, Luke 8:29, HEADCHEESE is the gritty account of a deranged man’s unholy psyche while on a bizarre pilgrimage to Quick Hill, Texas, to rid his soul of feeble-minded parasites.

Filmed on both 8mm and 16mm B&W film stock, this 22 min observation of a schizophrenic serial killer, wandering desolate Texas backwoods and farmland, combines the visual excess of underground classics such as Richard Kern’s SUBMIT TO ME (1985) and FINGERED (1986) and thematically resembles Nico B and Rozz Williams’ PIG (1988) – another movie exploring the tortured mind of a serial killer and his spiritual quest for truth.

The violence is conducted ritualistically and at times resembles a bizarre mix of tortures as visited upon Christ in the Chapters according to St. Luke (an excerpt of which opens the film), Satanic worship, and Elvis stage act (the scene where Legion drapes an animal skull round his shoulders and starts a bout of karate poses atop a burned out car parodies the Memphis legend wonderfully) and is beautifully staged against the foreboding Austin lots that featured prominently in THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE (1974).

It's about gore, bloodshed and insanity...apart from that fuck if I know! IMDb doesn't have a synopsis as neither did this vid on Youtube. There were some reviews I spotted but the wire too kind. Personally it looks great to me.

A Dream of Paper Flowers

Quote
‘A “giant lactating tit slug” serves as the star of the short film A Dream of Paper Flowers. The slug and the film are the creations of filmmaker Leila Jarman and puppet artist and poet Chelsea Bayouth. Jarman and Bayouth have teamed up with artist and producer Luka Fisher, artist MRK, digital artist Mike Leisz, cinematographer Spencer Rollins, and electronic musician and head of Proximal Records Sahy Uhns to create a work that combines puppetry and poetry, black-and-white filmmaking, and electronic sound design, into a surreal portrait of the female experience. The film is utterly abject. Close-ups of the film’s “star” pan across leaking conic growths, patches of rough hair (human hair?), and hills and valleys of uneven, alien skin. And yet, these images are also clandestinely beautiful: filmed in black-and-white, their harshness becomes softened and the precise detailing of their designs comes to the fore. As the film progresses, Bayouth’s beast begins to pulsate with greater intensity and, with a final, natal push, MRK emerges, naked like a newborn and covered in a tangling of material that harkens strongly of the organic gore of childbirth.’

FUCKKKYOUUU (2015)

a short film by Eddie Alcazar)

‘Shot on black-and-white film with a foreboding drone and static-filled score by Flying Lotus that gets very abrasive, it’s as gorgeous as it is unnerving. “With the ability to travel in time, a lonely girl finds love and comfort by connecting with her past self,” the film’s synopsis reads. “Eventually faced with rejection she struggles with her identity and gender, and as time folds onto itself only one of them can remain.” Rather straightforward as far as synopses go. So much so, in fact, that it almost seems like a joke, because FUCKKKYOUUU is anything but straightforward. The exploration of the girl’s identity, both with her gender and state of mind, is full of body horror and dark dreamscapes. It’s Rubber Johnny shot through both silent and modern era filmmaking techniques.’

Long before being fatally wounded and transferring his soul into the body of a Good Guy doll, Charles Lee Ray aka Chucky, was better known as the Lakeshore Strangler; a serial killer who wrought havoc all over the Chicago area. But Chucky's killing spree wasn't a solo venture. He had a little help from the only woman crazy enough to stand by his side- Tiffany Valentine. This is how they met.

Just finished watching The Voice Thief for the first time. The Voice Thief is a short film directed by Adan Jodorowsky son of Alejandro Jodorowsky. The film is based on a story written by Alejandro. It stars Asia Argento as Naya and Axel Cristobal Jodorowsky as Noev. Some of you will recognise Axel as Fenix from Santa Sangre. The Voice Thief is about a opera singer called Naya who after a failed and hated performance gets into an argument and fight with her husband Noev. During the fight they strangle each other the fight gets broken up but now Naya’s voice is damaged stopping her from singing. If she can’t sing anymore she will kill herself. Noev now goes on a dark journey meeting some interesting characters killing and taking the voices from people to give their voices to his wife Naya so that she can sing again.

I loved this amazing film and can’t recommend it enough. The visuals, colours and music are very impressive and beautiful. This is a stunning piece if art. I’ll put a trailer in the comments for everyone to see.
