Title: Mad Max trilogy
Post by: RIP on March 02, 2013, 09:53:18 AM
I love Mad Max original but I have to say my fave of the trilogy is The Road Warrior. It's prett damn awesome and the evil guy in it even has a wierd Jason Voorhees type mask in it.

When I was young prefered the sequel but now the original grabs me out of them all. In stating this all are great watches.

I watched this trilogy again recently actually. The Road Warrior is definitely my favourite of the three.
What about this remake though? Last I heard Tom Hardy was set to play the leading role. Will he do it justice?

I'm ashamed to say i have not seen any of the Mad Max movies, i remember kids at school going on about it but at that time i was watching whatever horror my older sister was renting so had no interest in it. Maybe it's something i could watch with my son as it would be new to both of us.

I love  The Road Warrior,  I think it's one of those rare exceptions where the second parts match and even surpass its predecessors, uncommon cases.

I already mentioned this elsewhere but for years...decades...maybe even a millennia...this was my favourite easy and the one I have seen the most. But lately I have been enjoying the original more, I think for the whole revenge thing I suppose.

Never got into these films. I've tried a few times, and I just can't sit through the first one. No idea why. And me being Aussie, it's like pistol whipping a blind kid. Ahhwell.

I love the first two. Actually, 'The Road Warrior' is on UK TV tonight. I'm not too keen on 'Beyond Thunderdome' though.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I voted for TRW.

The film that single-handedly killed Aussie cinema:

Most fans love The Road Warrior and the noobs love Fury Road.  Both great films with spectacular action scenes.  I always return to the original Mad Max though.

Such a great movie, it holds up way better than all the others.  People complain about lack of action, the action genre did not exist at this point in time, Mad Max invented it.   Sure, there were action parts in movies before then, but not done in the way Mad Max did it, with the kinetic visual style.

I have never seen a Mad Max movie.

I bought the PS4 game when it was on sale for $5 but never played that either.

I first saw The Road Warrior in 1997 on VHS, might have seen Thunderdome on tv before that I don't know.

But I actually saw both Mad Max and The Road Warrior at a special screening at the Astor Theatre in Melbourne.

Had my Mad Max experience in the early 80s and saw Thunderdome when it first appeared to the world of cinema.

When I was a sprog preferred Mad Max 2 with it's post-apocalyptic mayhem, rape...not much, but sounds cool...and carnage. Saw it a tonne of times.

But over the years I have come to love the original more with it's tale of revenge!

New one...I dug it though would have been a different experience with Mad Max aka Mad Mel in it! Feel it would have brought some real wild man into this, would have been perfect! This is getting me all excited though it never happened! THIS would have been a fucking experience in one man's madness, isolation, then being thrown into the scene of things...

"Sprog", ha, I see what you did there.  That's what Max's kid from Mad Max 1 is called, for those who don't know.  It's also Aussie slang meaning 'infant' or 'young child'.   :anger:

Fury Road would have been 10X better if it had Mel Gibson in it.  It's still a good movie though, at least they brought back Toecutter.

Love all of them except for parts of Thunder Dome.  But Fury Road is excellent could care less about Mel not being it.  Mad Max are stories being told from someone else's perspective so the face will always change. Fury Road and Road Warrior are my favorite so Crusty. UGH!

I like Road Warrior first then Mad Max. Thunderdome..last

Fury doesn't exist for me. Gibson is the one and only Max Rockatansky

I consider Fury Road to be a spin-off.

Thunderdome is not as bad as many people say.  I know some people love it.

Fury road is great! And I was in league with everyone else about no Mel.  Thunderdome isnt that bad.  I always turn it off when they send him into the desert

That's what a lot of people have a problem with, it became like a Disney/Spielberg film with the lost boys from Peter Pan.  Nothing worse than cutesy kids.  :cantlook:

Despite that, I really like the ending where you see the ruins of Sydney.

The train chase is cool too, but the best thing about the movie is Bartertown/Thunderdome.

I still like it because it's a good movie, even the Tina Turner songs aren't bad.  Not as good as the first two Mad Max movies though.

When George Miller’s first feature film, Mad Max was released to audiences worldwide in 1979, the genre of the Action film did not exist as a genre like it does today. This is in part because films like Mad Max helped to define and establish such a genre.

Somebody actually agrees with me.
