For the record, just to set things straight, jessie isnt producing while i direct, or vice versa,  this is a project both of us are tackling together,  we are both directing,  as well as producing, as well as wearing all the other hats involved.  We are a team!  Things are going great,  a handful of interviews left to go,  everyone weve talked to has been awesome!, right now we have enough, we could actually make this a 4 part documentary,   about 8 hours of in depth conversations about the films that step beyond "extreme" horror, it's roots, it's creators, it's fanbase,  its future.

We've been hinting at it for awhile but as of yesterday our producer, Elmar Berger, has officially interviewed Marian Dora for the documentary. To say we are excited with this development would be an understatement as we are all long time admirers of his work. As we near the end of our interviews we couldn't be more grateful for everyone's continued support in this project. We cannot wait to share all these stories with you!

Wow! July sure was crazy.
We managed to fit in even more interviews for the documentary including extreme cinema legend Marian Dora. We also got booked for lots of SFX gigs and found a little time to celebrate Jessie's 35th trip around the sun. We put off releasing the preview trailer because a very large horror website has picked up that exclusive, be on the lookout these coming weeks to see who it is! We've also been invited out to Midwest Monster Fest in Moline, IL and are so excited for this opurtunity. If you're able to make it out, we would love to see you there!

About to finish out the first weekend for the BEYOND HORROR crowdfunding campaign and I am so thankful to everyone who has backed, shared, and supported this documentary so far. Extreme cinema is incredibly important to me on a personal level. Some of the films we’ve been covering got me through the darkest moments of my life and I take the responsibility of documenting their history (good and bad) very seriously. Past all of that, creating documentaries and a production company that foster discussion and critical thinking has been a long standing goal of mine. So many of you are contributing to that and I cannot thank you enough 🖤

Extreme cinema often receives a lot of criticism for graphic depictions of abuse. While it’s certainly understandable that these films aren’t for everyone, it's also important to note that actions carried out on screen were performed by consenting adults* who are acting out a fictional story.
What we find interesting is that it has become perfectly normal and socially acceptable to indulge in true crime shows. These documentaries, often shown in primetime slots, receive very little blow back despite the fact that they go into graphic details about abuse.
Don’t get us wrong, we binge watched the damn Bundy tapes too but we’re very curious as to way no one seems to bat an eyelash over talking about real serial killers but mentions of A Serbian Film are met critique.

*We want to acknowledge that a few of the films we’ve been covering were made under questionable circumstances and while it appears all parties were consenting, there might be a question of how ethical the filming was.

After you watch the video, doesn't anyone want to go in on associate producer credits for the new EXTREME film that Marcus and Jessie wanna do if they meet their  new stretch goal?

I would like it to go under The Team from Extreme Horror Cinema, or something like that.

These two are good people, I trust them. If not it's really ok, just an idea I had when listening to them.  :)

Looks good, guess once the monies are raised you contribute towards the campaign and message to state you want to contribute as The Extreme Horror Cinema team or something similar. It's what I did in the past for some of these, just make the request.

Feel it goes to a very good cause and an important one at that. Not just so we can get an awesome short film extra BUT the actual doc. and what it would do for underground cinema.

A lot of you have been asking and today is the day we can finally annouce that, yes, Lucifer Valentine has sat down to be interviewed for this project.  Both of us were pretty blown away by what he had to say and we're certain you will be too.

His highly contraversal films are at the heart of this documentary's focus and it was so important for us to record his viewpoints and reasoning behind this work.

Get ready because there's so much more to come. October is our last month for interviews and you won't believe who we've got in the pipeline.

The campaign for the documentary on extreme cinema I am co-directing with Marcus Koch is ending on October 19th. We're not extending the campaign because by that point we will be prepping everything for Nightmares Film Festival, theatrical runs, and few other things we can't talk about just yet. We're also not sure when physical copies will be available to people outside of the backers due to a few interesting developments so, what I'm saying is, if you want an extended copy of this documentary you have until the 19th to snag one 😉

DVDs for $20, Blu Ray for $25, let's bring this to a nice finish <3

Also, there are literally over 100 people to thank for backing this project and that is kinda blowing my mind. We're taking this subject matter very seriously and we've felt very supported by the indie film community on this. BIG thank you to Jason Tostevin for going the extra, extra mile to help get this project out there too. I think we have something special on our hands.

I really tried to get EHC the co producer credit for the new narrative film. I just couldn't get up the monies. : ( Sorry about that. I just wanted us to be apart of something in the underground done by good people. 2 people or groups have claimed that perk. Congratulations to them.  :)

I'm going to leave the EHC account open just in case something worthy comes along. Everyone that actively posts and cares about the forum will be included in these adventures in film no matter what your money status is.  No one is left behind.  :red_heart:

Campaign wrap and upgrade!
That's a wrap on our Indiegogo campaign and because of you all we were able to raise over $5,400! That means we are able to upgrade everyone's blu and dvd orders to a two disc set and finish up our interviews for the extended cut of the documentary.

Thankful doesn't even begin to cover how we feel towards all of you but, "thank you". Starting a production company that has a focus in documenting the strange and the controversial was something that was really important to us. We spent a lot of time thinking about the direction for our first project and like with anything else were not sure where this all would land. The amount of support we have been given is humbling.

We will continue to update on Indiegogo a little bit but we're moving most of our news onto an e-mail list. You can sign up for that here: https://mailchi.mp/523b35d8be88/9393pictures

Nightmares Film Festival starts today with our screening for Beyond Horror on Saturday the 26th at noon, see you there!

Just finished experiencing!

Those of you who contributed did the right thing, this documentary is far more than worth it! Very interesting and thought provoking to say the least. Along with some great imagery from different cinema as well as how the to is edited together.

How people started their journey into extreme horror...how films bring out different feelings...pardon the use of words BUT the healing power of extreme cinema...along with certain filmmakers of import within this scene!

Jessie and Marcus put a LOT into this!

Wish I had contributed but that is what it is, will most certainly buy in time. A MUST HAVE!

press blu rays or dvds, during the lock down...we continued to collect more amazing interviews....if youve been following me.. you might have heard last month i ran into some computer troubles. i lost 2 harddrvies. in a lightning storm... i salvaged everything i could and got things backed up to a new harddrive. as well as got a new editing computer, only problem is , my entire life ive only cut on Mac, and never used PC.....making a switch over has been a costly process....computer programs are no fucking joke. when it comes to price tag.... also relearning how to do everything in a new program..heres where this week just went further south.. i lost another back up harddrive.......a new HD that i backed everything up to ....for no reason died.. it cant be read by any of my computers/laptops..    this contains., all of the interview files, plus the project edit file for the entire edit... trying not to freak out.. but if i cant get this recovered,  more the problem is being able to afford to recover the harddrive... its putting me into a terrible position.   at this point if i cant recover it.. im fucked... but not totally fucked as i do have the screening files of the original 80 minute cut... then its just a matter or reworking the new footage into the old cut...if anyone is an editor  on FCP , i think you can understand my problem...all is not lost, but its going to take a lot of work to get this beast of a doc.. back to where it was. and get it released. ,, trying to figure this out, as my new computer is PC and running adobe premiere.  and My old ass  Mac was running FCP7. ...so there is no way i can just move things over. it has to be finished with the MAC.   BUT Losing the master harddrive.... is really fucking things up...i still have the original footage backed up.. but the footage the program was pulling from.. is gone..meaning a cant use the original project file... its either reedit the entire doc from total scratch.  or rework from the 80 min. cut.  not sure if anyone reading this who doesn't know editing will make any sense. but those waiting for the official blu release, from our kickstarter.,  please hang in there.....its a lot to undertake and to fix before i can get this out.  ... fuck im so sorry guys... bare with me .....

Update from Marcus Koch:
Final Update on Beyond Horror :  its been a long shitty road, most people all ready know what happened to the harddrive.  but for those who don't yet, we lost the entire master harddrive with the master project files.  ive been spending the last 5 months slowly rebuilding the edit from the orignal video files.  its not been easy or fun. but we are finally to a point where the new cut is basically finished. just down to audio levels and color correction, and adding in all the title cards and end credits... once its authored for blu , we'll be getting them out as soon as humanly possible. thank you all for hanging in there with us. we'll make this same update thru the kickstarter for anyone is doesn't see this on our personal pages.

Thats a picture lock on BEYOND HORROR EXTENDED  cut.  I'm done tweaking and noodling,  sound levels i think are as even as they can be, its all kinds of different cameras and audio types, aspect ratios, and formats. If i tweak at this any more my head may explode.  2 hours and 7 minutes.... we ( Jessie Seitz )
and i may wait a few years before attempting volume 2. We lost a few interviews, but for the most part i had backups of everything else. Gotta get this mastered/ authored for blu,.. expect shipping to commence with in a few weeks... long hard road, but we did it. We rebuilt! Thank you to all of our indigogo supporters for your patience and understanding.... Gutterballs 2 , SYMBOLICUS and ROT to focus on next.
