New movie from HEREDITARY director Ari Aster


A couple travels to Sweden to visit their friend’s rural hometown for its fabled mid-summer festival, but what begins as an idyllic retreat quickly devolves into an increasingly violent and bizarre competition at the hands of a pagan cult.

Me too...trailer brings on this feeling of 'oh fuck'...loved it! EEL this will live up to the promise...how can they go wrong  :thinking:

I really hope that this film is filled with more disturbing scenes than the trailer, the only thing that could fuck this up is them literally showing all the climax scenes in the trailer and the rest of the film being filled with boring filler which is pretty much what always happens with these types of movies

I've never seen Hereditary. When it was in theaters I thought it looked horrible from the trailers and didn't have any interest in seeing it. Maybe I'll check it out when it's on the Netflix or something.

Hereditary did a good job of hiding what it was actually about in the trailer, so give it a watch for sure

Holy fuck! WTF. I feel there is no way anyone can predict what the next scene was gonna entail. This was insane.

One scene left me, well, my mouth agape. This was fucked up. Multiple viewings are in order.


All that being said. I liked Hereditary more. :)

I dunno. I may have to recant that statement.  :thinking: I love them both equally, they are like day and night.  :azn:

They each have their own specialness. Hell the opening scene here was just amazing. This director works everything so good. Camera angles, music, he builds up so much dread, I almost flinch wondering whats coming in the next scene then its totally not what I was expecting, then it is but 10 times more in your face.....ahhhhh, I loveth this director.  :red_heart:

WOW Ari Aster  :red_heart: Will be keeping an eye on you!

Need more directors like him in horror, he is the new and disturbing that has been missing for years in horror, and the fact that he is bringing it to the mainstream, I can't find a bad thing to say about him and his style

He captures atmosphere so beautifully, to the point it can make you sick to your stomach

I can't wait to see what else he has to bring in the years to come

I just got back from seeing it, really enjoyed it, it had a disturbingly fucked up atmosphere of cult weirdness, you rarely get nowadays, we need more folk horror..

There were references to The Wicker Man and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, but not on the nose.

At the centre is this couple and their fractured relationship from a family tragedy.  It gets more twisted as it goes on.

A couple walked out of the cinema just before the ending, what a bunch of pussies lol.  :horror:

Yes! And if we're talking about the same scene, I'd love that tool for pumpkin carving  :tongue2:  In all seriousness though, a lot of disturbing imagery throughout it, made me feel dirty, loved it!

Midsommar was a different kind of disturbing, almost a new feeling. Since everything was so bright and beautiful and full of nature and smiles it was almost like a cleansing feeling, like when you throw up and instantly feel better after with only a lingering memory of sickness. I found myself craving the feeling for days after I watched it, wanting to watch it again. I'm definitely buying it soon.
