Season 3 returns this Sunday night. So far I've been enjoying season 3.

Definitely going to be watching this tomorrow. Season 3 is quite the step up from the boring, horribly paced season 2.  Curious as to how the cliff hanger is going to play out.

Watched season 1 not too long ago. I wasn't expecting much, and apart from some dodgy acting it isn't too bad. I'm not going to rush to get season 2 though. It's god, but not great.

I liked Season 1 but Season 2 was poor for the most point apart from when the zombies were in it as the focal point. Also I could not handle Shane at all. Even going back to Season 1 again he made me cringe.

Cemetery Man? The Cemetery Man from the hm.com days way back when. I'm talking 10 years or more ago here.

Anyway, the second half of the third season premiered last night. A sorely disappointing episode. I've seen insanity dealt with better in a Seaseme Street. I'm finding most of the characters completely deplorable as well. And if the episode lacks zombies, such as this one did, they always crowbar in at least one scene of gratuitous violence to pander their little hearts away. Still...light TV watching this year, I need something to look forward to. This will do for now...but it's handled like dog-ass.

No, but it's possible you're talking about somebody I'm friends with. What was your name at that site? and what does hm stand for? horrormovies.com?

Season 1 is solid overall. Season 2 had a strong opening episode but then quickly descended into mediocrity with some good moments here and there until around about mid-season when it really picked up and was on a par with the first season. Season 3 has been far the best remaining consistently strong for nine episodes now.

Most people seem to think Season 1 is the best. I'm not huge on TV shows really anyway. Not ones you have to follow. There is a few I like but thats it.

Most people seem to think Season 1 is the best.

Most people did until the debut of season 3 last October. Season 3 has 16 episodes. I would rank Season 3 as the best season.

I've loved the whole show in its entirety.  Agreed that Season 2 was slow and not as strong as the other seasons, but I guess I looked at it through a drama point of view.  Of Rick being indecisive, showing weakness, and seeing the group breaking apart.  But that's just me.

It wasn't a bad episode, tensions were around.

It would be naive for me to think that we'll have a bloodbath of zombie killings EVERY episode.

I disagree and consider it to be the most useless episode of the show I have ever seen.....Had nothing to do with lack of zombies or anything like that, it had to do with the false tensions created by them sitting in that room for no fucking reason the entire episode. The entire episode could have been summed up in a 10 minute scene. Add a gun under the table to keep the audience on edge the entire time? Gimme a break, that was very weak.... Let's throw some random zombies in the mix for Daryl and what's his face to bond over? some more obvious foreshadowing....This show leaves a bad taste in my mouth and it keeps disappointing me time and time again. The writers really need to up the anti, I know a lot of people who gave up on this show already....I'm still hanging on to it. It's becoming a "So bad it's good" kind of show, which is just so very fucking sad to me. Maybe once they chop off Rick's hand and kill off that baby things will start to pick up.

Yeah, I suppose. I guess another reason was that I really thought the episode prior was a really good one. It had the feel of how I want the show to be....Creepiness, emotion, tension, adventure....they were all there in that episode, and I just felt like "Yes, this is how the show should feel......and then back to why I hated the show in the very next episode.....I still feel that it is because of my love for the comics back in the 2003, the comics actually got me back into buying comics again. And my expectations for the show were set high initially. I even purchased the first season on bluray on day one because I loved the show at the beginning, and then when all the contract problems and writers being fired and Darabont leaving and all that, I could just see the decline in the show happen right in front of me.

I like this for a bit of fun. It's great seeing zombies getting their heads caved in, and the writers dont mind killing off characters. What I dont like is the females. They're either crying, screwing or looking angry. When Michonne turned up I thought Oh this could be cool, but she's rarely given any damn script. And dont get me started on Carl. He makes me want to give him a clip across the ear. With any luck he's turning into a mini Shane for next season so atleast he can be a bad ass psycho rather than just a pain in the arse.

After season 2 I had pretty much sworn off of Walking Dead.  I just picked up season 3,and so far it's very good.  I do have a question however: Didn't Meryl show up as a zombie at some point and Daryll was forced to kill him? I should have figured he'd show up again at some point.

Getting really bored now. Even the kills were lame, except maybe one of Michonne taking a head off with a katana but gee her freaking style is terrible - Danai was so apathetic it looked like she was just swatting a fly. Not one of the actors looked like they wanted to be in that episode. Didnt work for me at all. I hope I'm wrong but I fear the wrters' room is going the way of Dexter.

Have any of you guys read the comics? I'm just wondering if this show stays true or not. I fell asleep again and had to rewind for the very last scene. Good to see that little tidbit but wondering where it's going.

Thanks Nec. I wonder why they do that. Probably the melting pot of egos at AMC. I cant believe they're now on their third showrunner for this. Pretty stupid really.
Title: Re: The Walking Dead

I don't get it either…I think it is ego and the whole "hey I got this brilliant idea!" thing. In stating this I really liking this season so far, way more zombie horror in it.
Title: Re: The Walking Dead
Post by: JackT on November 12, 2013, 05:09:37 PM
I spoke to someone about that the other day. He said networks in the USA are a world unto themselves. If a new CEO comes on board he/she will axe a show if it was popular under the previous CEO, or wont get enough ass kissing by a successful showrunner so will just sack them. Producers and networks take over shows as well so showrunner's ideas get swallowed up and shitstorms erupt. I would rather shovel shit than have to work in the environment. Sounds revolting.
Title: Re: The Walking Dead

Thanks Nec. I wonder why they do that. Probably the melting pot of egos at AMC. I cant believe they're now on their third showrunner for this. Pretty stupid really.

Wonder why they do what? Stray from the comics? Are you seriously asking that?

Almost every film adaptation is worlds away from the book. Not all, but most. Hell, I even saw the author of World War Z apologising to the fans of the book. I didn't read it but I guess he felt the film butchered his book. It's my main gripe with the Marvel films, though the newer ones are pretty good (apart from Iron-Man 3 that's all over terrible).

I think the shows overrated crap anyway. It's not terrible but it's not something I'll waste my time on. I watched season one and was like 'Oh. Is that it?'. Most people seem to say Season 1 is the best too. So, yeah I'm not going to bother with any more.

TV shows just don't do it for me though. I just feel they put too much effort in to being shocking to keep people watching. Comes off boring and, gets old.
Title: Re: The Walking Dead
Post by: JackT on November 12, 2013, 05:28:31 PM
Yes I did seriously ask that. Why else would I have asked the question of whether or not it was true to the comics. Didnt think I had to spell it out to someone who doesnt even like tv shows but the answer helps me understand why die hard fans are ripping the show to pieces.  Doesnt worry me, though, I was simply asking the question out of curiosity. I havent read a comic since I was about 5 years old and dont intend to start up again anytime soon.

Title: Re: The Walking Dead
Post by: General Ox on November 12, 2013, 05:36:20 PM
I think a lot of whats in the comics is a bit.. too far fetched to have it in the show. Stuff that would make a more mainstream audience roll their eyes at.

I'm not sure on that, but some of the things I've heard are pretty much saying that.

I just thought it was common knowledge movies/tv shows differ a lot from their source material. I don't think I've ever spoke to someone who read the book first, then saw the movie/show and then liked it better. If you've read the book first just seems like the movies never really do much for you. Only exception I can maybe think of is LotR.
Title: Re: The Walking Dead
Post by: JackT on November 12, 2013, 06:01:31 PM
Gee Ox, ofcourse it's common knowledge shows stray from the original. In this case it seems to be that it is totally removed, but you wouldnt know that because you dont watch the show and havent read the comics so not sure why you came into the thread where I asked a question of the posters who do watch it and no doubt have an idea of what the hoopla from comic readers is about.

I'm a zombie fan through and through so why I watch this. A lot of what has happened in this in previous seasons has shitted me and I am over the moon Shane and what's his names wife is dead now  For me this season is the best so far, feels more zombie apocalypse and everything going to shit!
Title: Re: The Walking Dead
Post by: JackT on November 12, 2013, 06:26:54 PM
I like the going to shit aspect, Splatty. That's about all for me. I've gone cold on it. Never was a raging fan but thought it was a bit of fun. The female characters always shitted me to tears so really glad most of them got knocked off, but then the ghost Lori stuff had me falling asleep. Dont know what it is but it just aint geling for me. I'll keep watching it only because there's nothing else on on monday nights, and I do like the zombie makeup, plus I want to see the little girl turn into a complete psycho.

I'm sure that little girl is going to have her moment go g(l)pry!

Lori ghost/delusion/ever viewers nightmare thankfully didn't last. Story wise they hold promise up to a point but get fucked up by stupid shit. In the end though as long as they have some nice zombie moments and most of the leads keep kicking ass it's cool with me.

The zombie grabbing Rick's leg was pretty cool. Hopeless bloody axe work by whatsername, though, and same with the head stabbing with a little knife. I mean C'Mon now. I dont expect this show to be realistic but a butter knife isnt going to go through a skull like it's a slab of butter LOL

Yes this season has the most re~watch value of them all so far, finished the last two episodes last night and really dug them a lot. I used to hate Karl but in this one he was really good!

A few people put down the whole Guv'nor episodes but they felt really good to me, he has a melt dow and pulls himself out…really enjoyed those episodes! Then naturally the ending for the next half in fuckin' February  :eyes_droped:

Spoiler below...

I don't believe the Guv'nor is dead! I reckon a zombie goes all munch~time on the woman as she goes to shoot him.

GREAT final episode.  Wow . . . February can't get here fast enough.

I love the show, and get annoyed when people constantly trash it.  Sure, it's not perfect, and I'll be the first to admit it's got its flaws, but I can't think of anything I like more on TV now that BREAKING BAD is gone.

BTW, you WALKING DEAD fans who are Friends with me on Facebook oughta check out my Photos -- specifically my Mad Monster Party album.  They're from a convention my family and I go to every year.  Last year my son had his picture taken with "Carl".  Pretty cool.  They're the same age.   :)

Awesome season premiere tonight. I'm so happy The Walking Dead has returned, now I have something to look forward to on Sundays again.

On a side note. Am I the only one who hopes they thin the heard this season and we see a lot of the group die? There is now 15 group members counting Judith. I'm sure I would shed a tear if certain members died, but really the only three I truly care if they survive are Rick, Daryl and  Michonne.
